Kally Mayerabout this book: This is a beautifully illustrated children's book written for 3-8 year olds. When my son was little I enrolled him in a gymnastics class. I remember that he would not let go of my leg for the whole class. This inspired me to write this book because sometimes children find new experiences scary and overwhelming.
They have fears of looking silly, not doing well, or being afraid to fail. The main character is really nervous to try ballet, doesn't do well at first, and makes mistakes. He does learn to stick to it and with practise, gets better.
He gets help and encouragement from old and new friends, has fun and even becomes the star of the show.
I told the story in a fun, lighthearted way to encourage young readers and entertain them at the same time!
I love the challenge of shaping a story using rhyme and trying to make it flow well. I always have my handy dandy notebook ready to write down new ideas and words to turn into a story.
