Belinda Beeckabout this book: Meet six year old Millie. She is just like any other six year old. There are some things Millie loves in the world and other things she doesn't.
"In Millie's World" is a picture book about growing up. It is about the feelings and emotions you have as a kid. It is about the moments we all share, both the happy and unhappy times as well as the fears.
As a hospital social worker by day and creator of picture books at night, my life revolves around listening and telling stories. I like to think that authors and illustrators of picture books have an important part to play in helping children understand and make meaning of the world around them.
I am hoping through the illustrations and simplicity of the language within the picture book "In Millie's World", there is an opening and opportunity for parents and children to share special moments together and tell their story of what it is like to grow up.
"In Millie's World" is book three in the picture book series "Millie's World". Through each book in the series you get to know all the important characters in Millie's life from her pets, to her baby brother, Max and even her favourite library book. Each book can be read as a stand-alone but all together you have a very colourful and enriched depiction of Millie, her family and the world around her.
"In Millie's World" is recommended for ages three and up. I like to think it can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter their age.
