Book: Hire This Penguin - Salary - Five Fish A Day (Garson the Penguin) by Aunt B.categories: Book, Picture Book, Bedtime Story, Penguin, Kids, Children's Book
Aunt B.about this book: Garson D. Penguin was a waiter at Captain Dandy's Seafood House. The job was fun and he had all the fish a penguin could want. His life was penguin perfect, until one day the health inspector showed up. She told Captain Dandy that if Garson didn't go, the restaurant would be shut down. All the workers were very upset, but Garson knew he had to leave.
Garson applied for many jobs, but:
He couldn't be a firefighter because the big water hose threw him around.
He couldn't be a policeman because he waddled too slowly to catch crooks.
He couldn't be a mail carrier because he feet couldn't reach the pedals of the mail truck.
He couldn't be a janitor because he lost control of the floor buffer.
One afternoon, as he waddled into the library, he saw a sign in the window: Help Wanted. He took the sign out of the window and went to the desk to apply. On the forms, under "Pay", he wrote "Five Fish A Day."
Although the head librarian has his doubts, he decides to give Garson a chance. Garson does a great job: he's very good at shelving books on the lowest shelves, he gets along well with the small children because he's just their size, one girl needed to do a report on penguins and he was a big help. But the head librarian still refused to hire him because no library had ever had a penguin librarian before.
As Garson was leaving, there was an emergency: the key breaks off in the outside drop box! If they can't get the books out, and get them checked in, the patrons will all have fines.
What can a penguin of action do to save the day and prove that every library needs a penguin?
