Millie is a little girl of nine who likes day dreaming about the past, which she thinks of as a magical, desirable place where little girls live in big houses, wear white, frilly hooped dresses and have four poster beds with Canopies.
She spends a lot of time with her grand mother, who is the complete opposite. She wears brightly coloured tight leggings and has her hair dyed pink. However, she is still very fond oh her.
Millie is teased by her brother Ruan, who couldn't live without his X box and other modern technology. He thinks is sister is really odd.
One day, out with her grand mother, Millie sees a one hundred years old carousel in a shop window. It works by being wound up, making it revolve and the horses go up and down to the tune of the "Blue Danube" . Millie gals I love with. It, but it is too expensive for her or her grand mother to buy.
That night in her bedroom, Millie doesn't want to play with her computer, she just can't stop thinking about the Caroisel.
As if from nowhere,a girl her own age appears in the room. She is strangely dressed in grey with a pine forest over the top. She introduces herself as 'Flo' and tells Millie to hurry up as she has come to fetch her.
Millie is surprised, but follows the girl, who takes her on an incredible journey to the past ... But it is quite different from how Millie imagined ...
