Book Reviews: Posie Pixie and the Snowstorm - Book 6 in the Whimsy Wood Series by Sarah Hill
|5 stars, 4 reviews|
Sarah Hillabout this book: 'Posie Pixie And The Snowstorm' is the 6th book in my 'Whimsy Wood' children's series. There are 35 books in my series and these are divided into 5 sets, each containing 7 books. Every book is written for a specific month in the calendar, so the flora and fauna within 'Whimsy Wood' changes accordingly as you read through the series. There is also a proverb hidden within each story, giving the books real meaning.
In 'Posie Pixie And The Snowstorm', it's January in Whimsy Wood and Posie Pixie is about to have another of her exciting woodland adventures with 2 new friends! These are Violet Vole and her best friend Sonny Shrew (the coolest dude in Whimsy Wood!) and this book is a tale about how friendship and fun can overcome the elements!
My 'Whimsy Wood' series of children's books are classed as 'early readers' and so are for 5-8 yr olds. Although younger and older children, as well as the young at heart enjoy my books. I have already written up to book 14 in my series and I am regularly invited to schools and libraries to read my 'Whimsy Wood' books, run creative writing workshops and woodland-related literacy activities.
The aims of my 'Whimsy Wood' series are to ignite imaginations and to engage children more with nature. Please note that 10% of sales from these books are donated to 'The Wildlife Trusts'.

Icicles and tricycles!'Icicles and Tricycles!' This is a fab book of playing on skateboards and eating toasted marshmallows as the snow storm blows. Sonny Shrew is a nice exciting character but my favourite in the delightful 'Whimsy Wood' series is Mrs Spottisdowne the sparrow in book 3 ('Posie Pixie And The Torn Tunic') with a close second being Rosa-May in book 1 ('Posie Pixie And The Copper Kettle'). Posie Pixie is an endearing little magical character who you can't help but smile about and I'd definitely recommend this enchanting children's series. [by Stefan Milne]
AmazingMy 4 year old daughter loves the whimsy wood series & this book is brilliant. We have read it many a times, but yet it's still as magical as the first time we picked it up. Not only does she enjoy them, I do to. With this magical winter story you really feel that your there with posie and her friends, during the snowstorm. This is another great story from the collection and we can not wait for posies next adventure.
Winter's MagicAnother great hit for the author. The perfect story to get you through winter blues. Even though I am an older reader I still cant wait to see what Posie gets up to. They always manage to raise a smile. The author always manages to portray the natural progression of the year through these lovely stories. Cant wait for the next. [by Jill Nyman]
Posie Pixie and the snowstormMy 5 year old girl absolutely adores Posie. We have read all the books for many times, but can never get bored. We can't stop reading until the very end. We enjoy the adventure through magical woodland, exploring and learning about woodland flora and fauna. Posie is very cute and such a likable character. We just keep hoping that we will hear the little bluebell jingle on our next visit to the forest. These books go with my little girl everywhere, on sleepovers, holidays, even the world book day. These books are perfectly written to capture child's imagination. The illustrations colourful, gentle and a perfect match to the story. Cannot wait for the next adventure. [by Alena Evans]
