Jesse MacGregor-Jonesabout this book: This book is a true account of the abuse I suffered at the hand of my own mother, from the age of 6 mos old. It tells about the suicide of my father, the death of my mother shortly thereafter and all the years of dysfunction that ensued.
My primary readers have been fans of my blog, ButchRamblings.com and the readers of the lesbian erotica that I also write. My fans are a very loyal bunch and I am so thankful for them! They've become much like family to me.
I designed the cover of my book based on the sense that I had been 'bathed by flames' in my own life and I do believe that I have finally risen, like a phoenix. My book is meant to inspire others to know that life can and does get better. I hope to help with suicide awareness and prevention as well.
One reader has written this in response to reading this book:
"I read your book "cover to cover" without a break. I've read a lot of auto's over the years, most of which put me to sleep at some time or the other, right now I have two sitting by my bed, one that I might pick up every couple of months; the other I will probably never finish ...
Goodness knows people tend to overemphasize!!!!
Your autobiography, however, "flowed", was easy to read and I didn't get bogged down, but then that is your skill wordsmith :0)
I liked that there wasn't any "glorious" sadness, although there could have been a lot of it and I wouldn't have begrudged you that. For me, it joined the "dots" re some of the things you've written about.
"SPOILERS ... NO !!!" ...
All I will say is that some of the early years left the mother in me incensed and the pisces heartbroken, and because of the strong emotional response this evoked in me I will read your book again.
RECOMMEND IT ...
Hell Yeah!!! For all those out there in "Jesse land", living vicariously like I am, get this book and read it, as I said ... it joins the dots."
