Hazel S. Mullerabout this book: Cate wants to go on an adventure to climb one of the great trees in the orchard but her friends the lady bug twins, Priscilla and Drucilla; Paul Praying Mantis, and Wooly Worm think it is much to dangerous and refuse to go with her. Many things happen to her on her adventure. She even turned into Madame B. Utterfly and reunited with her friends.
This story came about because my husband was enrolled in a Creative Writing class in college and was supposed to write a story. He couldn't think of anything to write about and I said "Write a story about a bug." "No one can write a story about a bug." he replied. So, I wrote this story to show him it could be done. The funny thing was that it just took on a life of its own and I just wrote down what I saw happening. It is partially true, Grandpa and Grandma Strawn are real people and the description of their backyard is true. Even the crazy butterfly that kept wanting to land on Grandpa's nose is true. It is a beautiful story of the full life cycle of the caterpillar into the butterfly albeit fictionalized by personification.
It is a children's story that could be understood by a child of age 5 and read by a child of 9.
