Margot Mauriceabout this book: The book tells the story of Cardiomyopathy Australia's foundation 20 years ago. It tell stories of members, their carers & their families. Little was known about the condition 20 years ago & most patients were simply told they could drop dead any minute.
This book benefits the reader by giving more details of the condition, the coping mechanisms, the carer's role, & the various stages of grief for both patient & carer. I was inspired to write this book as the 20oth anniversary of the association was celebrated in September 2014 & many newly diagnosed patients would have no idea how Cardiomyopathy Australia all came about.
People with cardiomyopathy & their carers will be the primary readers & will see the many benefits of a support group
The research & collecting of relevant information took the longest part of the preparation & the whole process took about a year. The title of the book was the same as the theme of the celebratory seminar held in 2014. The cover was professionally designed by Ebookit.com as I was pleased with the cover of my previous book on this subject.
The hardest part of writing this book was reading & rereading the members' stories & seeing their similarities, their differences & the ways these people coped. I enjoy research so this was not a problem.
I learned in writing this book that things were a lot harder for sufferers 20 years ago & the advancements in diagnostic techniques, medication & knowledge have improved one hundred times over.
