Markie Maddenabout this book: One young woman's heroic battle against leukemia, and how cancer started the butterfly effect in her life. A small act of kindness, a Facebook friend request from a schoolmate, created a rolling snowball that culminated in her becoming an independently-published author. She writes her story hoping to encourage and inspire others who are suffering from cancer.
She begins her tale with giving an overview of the type of person she was before: type A, always busy, always working hard. She was married, had two daughters, 4 dogs, and a horse that she had raised and trained. Suddenly, she came down with a summer cold thing, and was sick off and on for a month.
By the next month, she was well aware that something was wrong. She couldn't walk more than 50 yards without stopping to rest. Two hospital visits, several blood transfusions, and many tests later, she was given the diagnosis of leukemia. She was hospitalized 3 hours from home, away from her family and all alone.
