Author Robert Gioiaabout this book: The Bully Barn was a story that was in development over the past four years. I acquired a unique insight into bullying from both a legal and a social perspective through the course of my employment as a school liaison officer. I noticed that stories locally were somewhat scarce with regard to this material and they did not serve to educate all facets involved in this complex issue (victims, bullies, bystanders, parents and educators). You may find it surprising but many parents and even those in the educational field are not truly aware of what actually constitutes bullying. The term itself has been frequently overused. This endeavor is much more than a mere story and also contains bonus material/information that can be of great value to parents and educators. This was a labor of love for the most part and I truly hope that readers enjoy and benefit from it.

---

Children are going back to school and so is bullying. Parents and children need to be educated and prepared. The bully barn is not a typical children's story. On the contrary it is an entertaining story that is meant to be a teaching aid for parents and educators while also serving as an educational learning tool for everyone. Bullying needs to be defined/understood properly since the term bullying has been overused and abused. The key to alleviating bullying are the bystanders and agitators. They are much greater in number than bullies and often it takes only one person to make a difference. Since one cannot force children (or anyone for that matter) to "like" one another then the message is also one of tolerance. This story also contains discussion questions at the end as well as useful information/commentary on bullying.
