about this book: Since the murder plot that is depicted here is a bit more complex than what I employed in my two earlier novels in this series ("Poolside with Brett" & "Brett Aerobicizes"), I took more time in writing this one than I usually did.

In essence, the book seems to divide itself into two parts, the first part involving Brett's taking revenge upon his attackers from Chapter One, and the second part mainly devoted to the work he does for his client, eventually leading up to the murder that has the police perplexed for a while, even to the extent that the homicide lieutenant enlists Brett's assistance in solving it.

The title of the book comes, first of all, from a statement that Brett makes to one of his adversaries whom he has just overcome, but this book is (so far) the only one in which Brett doesn't catch a beating. Hence, Brett always wins!

Readers may notice that this is the first book cover in the series, showing a shirtless Brett. The decision to do so came largely from a request from a female reader who evidently desired to see what the man would look like, stripped to the waist -- and also from a male reader who'd complained that Brett spent so much of his time in the novel parading around shirtless, that he'd might as well be depicted that way on the cover.

Personally, I'd always envisioned my character as being a bit beefier -- and indeed, he's often described that way in all the novels -- but I received positive feedback on the cover, so I suppose it was worth it.

Also, since the content and language of the novel are sometimes of an adult nature, a little beefcake on the cover wouldn't be inappropriate, I feel.
