John Sparks about this book: My book "The Fight" follows Ken Puckett, the main character from his high school sports days to higher goals and experiences in life. During his trek to achieve the goal of becoming an Olympic boxer, he discovers that hard work and determination is the only thing that will help him overcome the obstacles in his way. Follow Ken on his journey from childhood to young adult as he learns about overcoming the hardships that life and growing up throws at him. This book was written for the juvenile and young adult audience, and parts were based on true experiences. The idea was to try and inspire the youth of today that you have to work hard to achieve your goals, and if you do, you can accomplish almost anything, although along the way there will always be obstacles and negative people trying to hold you back. Over coming those walls in life are not always easy, but it can be accomplished. The fight Ken has to experience, is not always in the ring, but most of the time he has to win the fight in his head, begging him to give up.
