My FriendI haven't read the book yet but I don't have to wait until I do to rate it because I worked with Donna for almost 7 years. I was working as a c.n.a. at St. Joseph's Living Center and Donna was often the nurse that I worked under. I saw firsthand the struggles that my friend endured .....everyday. It wasn't the physical pain that I'm sure she suffered that broke my heart ...it was the sadness in her eyes that was caused by living your whole life trying to convince yourself that it didn't matter ...let them stare ...let them wonder if I was capable of being a nurse ...let them snicker and hate and judge.
It was those beautiful eyes that gave her away. For what it matters my friend ...you excelled as a nurse and I am so damn lucky to have worked with you. Maybe one day you can tell me how you had so much compassion to give when so little was ever given to you ...I wish you the very best.
