Gene Ligottiabout this book: Writing a biography about a close friend is at times quite difficult because the writer must press his friend to release memories that he may want to keep hidden. Dr. Frank Lunati was the first battalion surgeon of the 2/5 First Cavalry Division (Air Mobile) from 1965-1966. Time Never heals is a story that Frank Lunati never wanted told. He suppressed it and kept it from his friends, and his family. Tortured by these memories, he pushed it further and further away. But almost forty years later, while clearing out a basement, his granddaughter came across an old dusty box. In the box were letters and other war paraphernalia. His family wanted answers and for the first time he began to tell them about the horror he had lived through. He then spoke to his close friend, Gene Ligotti and ask him ... "Will you write my story?"
Using letters he had written to wife and under pressure from Ligotti, he forced himself to remember all that had happened.
This is the story of his tour of duty, the battles, the casualties and the deaths along with all his thoughts and feelings. He relives in vivid detail the Search and Destroy missions, the battles of Happy Valley, Ia Drang, and Bong Son. he takes you with him as he ships out and travels to Vietnam and lives through a horrendous year. You will experience the battles with him, meet the friends he made and those he lost. This novel brings 'Nam' to you in a way you will never forget.
