Deborah H. Batemanabout this book: The Book of Ezra: A Story of Provision and Protection is a Daily-Bible-Reading Study of the book of Ezra. It is a great story of how God provides and protects His children. The Jewish people had been in Babylonian captivity for 70 years, when God charged King Cyrus to rebuild the temple at Jerusalem. They gather volunteers and head home to Jerusalem to build the temple. They experience opposition to the project and have problems within their own community due to their disobedience. The story shows how God can move in different situations and even influence leaders of countries, such as kings to accomplish His will.
I prayed about the title and it just came to me one day. It was a perfect fit for the story. Writing this story was not near as much a challenge as publishing it. Someone didn't want me to publish it, because I experienced all kinds of obstacles in the publishing process. But, with God's help, I persevered and got it published.
I am not really a history buff, but through studying the book of Ezra and other books of the Bible, I have become more interested in history and how it relates to the stories in the Bible. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did studying it and writing it.
