Kenneth Eadeabout this book: Einstein said that if the bees disappear from the earth, mankind will have but four years to live. When I began to hear about the bee crisis, I did not realize that, despite the fact that they pollinate most of our food, bees are an indicator species that should be sending a clear and present wake up call that we are in danger.
I have never been a political person, but it seemed to me that the the power of social networking is a very useful tool, such as television was in it's early days. But, like television, the full power of social networking is not being used. It is being used to smear reputations, post pictures of cats, and many other mundane things. But it struck me when I started to advocate for the bees, and to follow and post information on my "bee page" on Facebook, that, just as it was used to topple the ruling government of Egypt, we can use the tools available to us on the Internet to make a difference in the world. That is why I wrote this book. It is a tool that you can obtain on the Internet, and it gives you ten simple ways that you, as an individual, without any political clout or power, can make a difference in the world, as big as it is, by saving the bees.
Perhaps the biggest problem facing us today is pending extinction of our planet. Mankind has abused its environment. They say that a cat will not eat where it defecates, but that is what we are doing in our world. We have destroyed our atmosphere, contaminated our water, altered our climate, and upset the natural balance of things. The bees are an indicator species of a coming sixth mass extinction. The last mass extinction was 65 million years ago with the dinosaurs, and this one is being brought about by humankind. This book tells you how serious the problem is, what you can do about it on your own level, and how you can be a bigger voice politically and collectively.
