Brenda Mohammedabout this book: In 1999 after I retired from the bank I wrote this book. I felt the urge to write this book because I wanted to document that part of my life which I really loved. The book starts off with my childhood days, school days, and a background of my home life.I was also inspired by a movie. It has been said that some television shows corrupt the minds of the viewers. Violent scenes may instigate violent behaviour in some people.I gained my motivation from a scene in a movie where a woman was putting the finishing touches to her manuscript. The gleam in her eyes and the expression of joy and sense of achievement really impressed me. The next day i was typing away on the computer writing my life story. I revised the book in 2014 and this is the new edition.
I started working at the bank at the tender age of sixteen and rose through the ranks to become a Commercial Credit Manager. In those days it was difficult for a woman to rise to such a level in the bank in the country in which I lived. I started working in the days when we had no computers, and not even adding machines. We did most of the adding of figures manually. Everything was done manually, even the calculation of interest on savings and overdrafts and loans, and to work in a bank and become successful in my day you had to be good with figures.
I related it all in the book so that readers could get a fair idea of how the bank evolved from manual and primitive operations to sophisticated systems in magnificent branches throughout the country of Trinidad and Tobago.
However, the book is not only about banking. It is about my personal life as well. I met my husband while working at the bank. I had my children while working at the bank. I was a wife, mother, and a career woman all at the same time. I also had opportunities to travel abroad with my family on vacations.
When I look back at my life I wonder how I accomplished all of that,in spite of hurdles along the way.
I hope that readers will enjoy my story. The book is available on Amazon in both Kindle and Paperback Editions.
