Steven Foremanabout this book: This is the autobiography of an ordinary man on an extraordinary journey.
The journey begins with the innocence of his childhood and his love of nature and takes him to the wilds of darkest Africa. But it was not a straightforward journey; on the way he was a professional soldier, a prison officer, a security and surveillance operative, and a private investigator. There was a marriage… and a divorce, an overland expedition to climb mountains in Azerbaijan, Iran and four years spent in the South of France. His extra mural activities included climbing, caving, motorcycling, parachuting and animal rights covert operations. He eventually fulfilled his childhood dream of working with wildlife in Africa – as an anti-poaching operative on the rhino conservation project in Tanzania, East Africa. He became a professional safari guide and mountain leader, working all over East Africa and Botswana… but also became involved in gun running in Zaire during the Kabila uprising. During a hiatus in the safari work he took part in a dangerous drug smuggling operation in Spain before returning to Africa. He has climbed most of the mountains in East Africa, and has walked through the wilderness of Tanzania with Masai warriors. As a security contractor he has worked extensively in post-conflict South Sudan and the arid semi-deserts of northern Kenya and eastern Ethiopia.
The story is at times inspirational, funny, tragic, sad and ridiculous...but always honest. It proves that even in this day and age of bureaucracy and mediocrity it is still possible to live an adventurous life.
The extraordinary journey continues…
