Maria Harper Davisabout this book: This book is about the life of one young girl who grew up in poverty and experienced almost every adversity one can experience in life. I wrote this book to inspire, encourage, and to give hope to the hopeless and a vision to those who are blind. The primary readers of my book will be those who are still struggling, may face struggles, obstacles and challenges similar to the authors.
I struggled with the title but because I was a little girl born in Oakland, I felt like I could be the daughter of the city who would rise above the trials, temptations, and setbacks to demonstrate it could be done with determination and perserverance.
The cover wasn't hard to choose once I decided on a title. I always had a picture of myself as a five or six year old around the house. The pictures didn't seem to have been given away so I put it to use as the cover on the book
The hardest part of writing my book was sharing the parts of my life that were difficult to talk about. Also, my actions in my young years and how people would possibly judge me as a result.
I want to say to my readers if they or someone they know need to be inspired, encouraged and need a new lease on life. Read my book.
I want my readers to know I want to make a difference in the world by reducing violence, displaying love for all humanity, eradicating homelessness, especially our veterans, making suring our young people receive what they need in the way of a quality education, after school programs, and much much more.
