Rain Sticklandabout this book: What happens to the people who are sick and need medicine once the world goes dark? Have you ever stopped to think about people on dialysis or insulin? If you were diabetic or suffered from kidney disease, would you know what to do if there were no more drug companies or running hospitals?
In Ground Zero, book two of the Tipping Point trilogy, Mackenzie has to travel hundred of kilometres from northern Ontario down to Cleveland to save her best friend's life. He's running out of insulin, and Mac is the only one who can help him now. She's managed to find a pharmacist who knows a thing or two about chemistry, and he manages to make the life-saving drug for her. The only problem is that she has to leave the farm and use a boat on the Great Lakes Waterways - and she's never captained a boat in her life. It also means leaving the farm in the hands of her daughter and stepson. Thankfully she's got Neil to help her, but he's also a novice around boats.
Cameron, Mac's daughter, has her own struggles. It would be fine if she could be left to run the farm, but something else has come up with that she has to deal with. In fact, a lot of 'somethings' seem to be cropping up, and at twenty-three Cam isn't feeling very well-equipped to deal with them.
