Book: Mystic - Bronya by Jo Michaels

Jo Michaelsabout this book: This is book one of six in the Mystic series. It's about a young woman struggling with her identity in a small town. I was inspired to write this book by both doomsday (12-21-12) and my circle of friends growing up. Each book represents one of the girls I knew and some of the struggles they faced; though I mixed them all up so no one would know who was who. The series has been enjoyed by women aged 15-60. It preaches tolerance of those different from yourself and tries to give the reader a walk in another person's shoes so you can identify with their struggles. Call it anti-bullying, if you will.
I chose the cover because it's a series and I wanted each one to look different but retain the familiar feel. The title was chosen because of the main character, Markaza. She's a mystic and is really the one that drives the whole story.
The most difficult part of writing the series has been getting past the emotions the stories bring forth in myself. When I write an emotional scene, the feelings stay with me for days afterward. Every story is based in a location I've either visited or lived and I researched airlines, rental cars, hotels, and facilities to use.
Mystic has received high praise from readers and a couple have commented on how they struggled with some of the same issues as the girls. It's a very women empowering series.
