Ugo Ucheabout this book: This book is about managing anger, I was inspired to write this book based on my past experiences with poor anger management. From my experience, I came to learn that while conventional anger management techniques worked in deescalating me during my episodes of poor anger management, they did nothing in preventing me from getting angry in the first place. So I still found myself left with burnt bridges and other unwanted natural and logical consequences.
Taming the Beast Within focuses on helping the reader understand the psychology and science of anger. Further the reader learns to identify his or her cognitive messages which trigger poor anger management during certain circumstances, then the reader learns to change those messages into healthier and realistic cognitive messages that help facilitate problem solving.
This is a short read, the book is written for people who struggle with poor anger management to begin practicing the cognitive techniques immediately while educating themselves about the science and psychology of anger.
The strategies provided are evidenced based, which I have found useful personally and professionally. Also as a psychotherapist, I routinely recommend these strategies to my clients to practice with positive results.
