Book: A Man of the Land (Masterson Family Series Book 2) by Carol Devine
|4 stars, 1 review on Amazon|
Carol Devineabout this book: A MAN OF THE LAND is a refreshing take on contemporary Amish romances. Sarah Solomon grew up in a community founded by Mennonites and other spiritual types who value a plain and peaceful life as farmers and ranchers in Montana. However, when her mother dies, Sarah's life with her stepfather is far from peaceful. She becomes a runaway, working her way south, determined to elude her stepfather's pursuit and find a better life.
Renegade Zach Masterson does not initially represent that better life. An expedition leader in the jungles along the Amazon, he returns to Colorado to sell the family ranch, a place he despises along with his own father. To find the beautiful Sarah camped illegally on his land presents a number of complications, not the least of which is an instant attraction to Sarah's honest, straightforward and innocent nature. When Sarah literally saves his life, he is forced to offer her a job and his protection. But no matter how much he may owe her, Zach has no intention of losing his freedom to a woman who is far too innocent for her own good.
Quotes from A MAN OF THE LAND:
"Sarah, all I understand is you're drawing a line you don't want me to cross. Do you know what a challenge that is to someone like me? I've been crossing those lines for as long as I can remember."
