Barbara Wosterabout this book: After writing many novels, I decided to move into an arena that is, not only dear to my heart, but one in which I am credentialed -- education. A Isn't Just for Apple is a book about the ABCs that moves beyond the simplicity of many ABC books, focusing instead on teaching young ones the varied letter sounds with vocabulary building in mind. Thus it steers away from many of the typical books of this sort -- A is for Apple, B is for Ball . . . .
Moreover, since children learn via repetition, I concentrated on using associative alliteration, so that the letter sounds are used frequently, and therefore will stick within the mind of the reader.
To make it more of a challenge for me, and upon the encouragement of my children, I tackled the artwork for the book as well as the writing. I combined my artwork were carefully selected clipart in order to increase the color and creativity.
BOOK PARTICULARS: This book is for pre-readers (infants) up to the independent preschool reader (approximately 5 years of age).
