Powerful - Eloquent - EngagingTheological treatments generally allow you the luxury of maintaining a comfortable distance from the doctrine proposed. Moral implications and applications are seldom forced upon the reader. Not so with Melanie. The moral bearing of the doctrines considered are presented as amongst the primary tests of their truth and legitimacy. I've never read a theological treatment more palatable and engaging, more powerful and poignant. In addition to soul stirring emotion, it's a credible, serious treatment, essentially leaving no stone unturned, with countless Bible quotes and references. With a solid audience relevant understanding of the New Testament, the author interprets previous hell-fire proof texts in their proper light, completely decimating the foundation of the doctrine of hell.
I've never seen anyone make more sense of the Book of Revelation. According to an old writer, "Eloquence is not a trick of words. It is the utterance of great truths, so clearly discerned, so deeply felt, so bright, so burning, that they cannot be confined, that they create for themselves a style and manner which carry them far into others souls." Of all the books I have read both in my study and leisure, "Whatever Became of Melanie?" is one of the most eloquent.
