Author Malcom Masseyabout this book: "The Lost Ark of the Incas" is the 2nd volume in The Martin Culver Series.

Based on what Martin Culver has learned about Spanish treasure stolen from South America, he establishes the International Antiquities Foundation, with a goal of repatriating identifiable artifacts to their respective countries.

Seeking to know more about the treasures of the Inca, Culver and his wife Sandy travel to Lima, Peru to visit the gold museum there. They also plan to interview John Robert Chartwell, a British archaeologist, for an IAF leadership role.

When things start to go wrong in Peru, Culver and Chartwell begin to doubt each other, wondering where loyalties lie and where lies begin. Little do they realize that the trouble is only just beginning.

If you have ever considered what Peru is like from the Pacific to the Amazon, this is the novel for you. This novel is the one most closely based on my 5 years of living in Bolivia, while traveling to Peru and Ecuador.

I was inspired to write this novel after reading a random fact: The greatest volume of art fraud occurs in religious artifacts. Knowing that the Spanish tried everything to subdue the Inca people, I wondered if there had ever in fact existed a second Ark of the Covenant. Some research into the unique mineral deposits of the Andes mountains in and around Cuzco, including high degrees of magnetism and huge deposits of remaining gold, plus an abiding interest in the Inca culture, was all the motivation I needed.

The cover is intended to represent an old National Geographic magazine cover, with the yellow border and the black and white imagery. I created the "floating" Ark, having experience with pen and ink drawing, and it was a natural fit with the story.

It is always hard for me to stop researching and start writing. There are so many interesting things about this world.

I would like to say thank you to the fans that encouraged me to write a second novel 10 years after the first, and who were patient to wait for it. To everyone who reads this novel, I hope you are entertained to the point of not being able to put the novel down until you find out what happens at the end.
