Book: My Favorite Character Defects by Ken Montrose

Ken Montroseabout this book: My Favorite Character Defects: The next workbook written by your Addiction tells how arrogance, over-confidence, self-pity, and other faults feed an addiction. The narrator, Addiction himself, also describes in painfully wry fashion how he plans to use a person's strengths to further an addiction.
What makes My Favorite Character Defects unique is the way Addiction describes his relationships with Death and Recovery. While he sees himself as a business man, Addiction seems to admire the nobler roles played by Recovery and Death.
"Recovery has a gentle calming voice. She will warn you without criticizing you. Recovery stands firm without being ridgid or judgmental. She will not sheild you from your fears, but she will stand with you as you face them. Recovery is slow to anger, but wants you to be angry when you have reason to be. Recovery will never give up on you, but nor will she accept any hollow excuses. She sees what you could be, today and each day to follow. Recovery knows you have a tough road to walk, and at times she will need to push you. She loves you when nobody else can, including you. Even I, your Addiction think Recovery is beautiful. You would be wise to listen to her, but listen to me instead." p. 2

• "I very much enjoyed this! I assumed that it was just another book like the majority of. Addiction reads. Man was I wrong. It's told by addiction itself. Not an addicted individual. Somehow, the point was well driven but with a sarcastic hilarious twist." — Ms. Muffett
My Favorite Character Defects helps people overcome their addictions by showing how their strengths and weaknesses help them rationalize getting high.
