A D Koboahabout this book: "Peace" is about a young woman living on the margins of society who is using heroin to keep painful past memories at bay.
I started writing this novel roughly eight years ago and chose a subject matter and protagonist that most people wouldn't be able to identify with. I wanted to explore the reasons why someone would begin using a drug as destructive as heroin even though they are aware of the dangers of such a harmful drug. At the point that my protagonist begins using heroin she has pretty much given up on herself and life. And the novel charts her journey, weaving between the past and the present, detailing the events leading her to try heroin for the first time to the present day when the past she is running from comes back to haunt her.
"Peace" is a powerful novel about addiction and loss which will leave the reader thinking about the novel long after it has ended.
