Christopher Joseph McGarryabout this book: The year is 2006, and war - scarred U.S. marine Josh Donaldson is returning home after a grueling tour in Iraq. He just wants to put the horrors of war behind him and live a normal life with his wife Mallory and daughters Jessica and Caitlin. Sadly, Mallory passes away from cancer and the highly – decorated war veteran is left widowed.
Josh moves down in Orlando, Florida, in the hopes of getting all of their lives together. Just when things are getting better, Jessica gets hurt one evening and her concerned father rushes her to the hospital. Shortly after, officials from Orange County Child Protective Services, the domineering man – hating radical feminist Lori Mancuso and her assistant, arrive at the hospital and accuse the scared single father of child abuse.
Caitlin and Jessica are soon whisked off to a foster home while their enraged father escapes from police custody and hides in the swampy, snake – infested woods north of the city where he wages a brutal one – man guerrilla war against pursuing sheriffs' deputies and state troopers.
Determined to get back his daughters, the skilled Congressional Medal of Honor winner joins forces with a woman (whom he falls in love with) who has her own dark past with the child protection system. Together, they devise a plan to spring the girls from a youth detention facility and bring Mancuso to justice for the crimes she has perpetrated on thousands of innocent Florida families.
• What inspired you to write this book?
I was inspired to write this book because too many American and Canadian families are unfairly victimized by out of control child protection bureaucracies. The primary readers of Unforeseen Fury would be those who enjoy action /adventure/espionage thrillers.
• How did you come up with the title?
I was thinking one day, looking over the titles of action films and books and it just some of came to me.
• What was the hardest part of writing your book?
The hardest part of writing Unforeseen Fury was crafting intelligent dialogue that complements the story. I spent many hours researching various topics related to the subject matter of my book including Orlando, Orange County Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Marine Corps, etc.
• What do you want to say to your readers?
I really want to say to my readers: This is a unique story, different from many books out there. Unforeseen Fury is not just another thriller. It's the story of what one man will do to win against unbeatable odds and be reunited with his children.
