Kelcey Hillabout this book: My book is about an up and coming American Chinese paleontologist who gets called on a classified dig to China. While on assignment she meets a group of friends that help her view the country of her heritage with new eyes. It's a journey of personal growth, self discovery, friendship, family, and love.
I was inspired to write this book based on my love for dinosaurs and my time spent
living in China. A lot of additional research was done for this book and it took me five years to finally complete it.
The title Descendants of the Dragon comes from the Chinese use of using "Descendants of the Dragon" as an ethnic identity. Dragons and dinosaurs run parallel in China as well so it was a fun double meaning for me and a good title for my book.
In the end I wanted to write a story that was easy to pick up and read without feeling like a chore. I wanted to create characters that people cared about and invested in and most of all would have fun spending time with.
