about this book: Adytum is my life's work; it is the story I've been trying to tell since I realized I could have a voice. I was born to deaf parents in an abusive home and though those events heavily shaped the life that followed, the point of an abuse story isn't relaying the experience of being hurt; it's about growing from that experience. As arrogant as an autobiography may be, we all have things to teach one another. This is simply my attempt at sharing what I've learned from being molested, beaten, and abandoned in childhood, and continually surprised with new family dramas through my adult life. Though I realize abuse stories are not everyone's cup of tea, I have to mention that it is truly amazing where one can find humor (arguing with my deaf mother about whether or not she could hear, for example).

The reason for writing this book was to point out that we all make decisions, those decisions affect all those around us, and we can choose to make new decisions at any time. This concept may seem too simple to be taken as a revelation, but I've surprised myself with how much I can lose in the day-to-day struggle of survival; I figured it couldn't hurt to remind others as well. If you are not one who needs the reminder, then I simply invite you to follow the chaotic, and sometimes silly, threads of my life.

An Adytum is defined as the inner-most sanctum of a temple where only the sacred and revered are allowed to tread. As a compendium of the most profound truths of my life and personality offered up to a human populace that I could define as sacred, the title fit. I humbly offer you my Adytum.
